The wooden kinetic sculpture featuring a hummingbird is the only one of its kind produced in our workshop to date. Designed to be the main identity element in the atrium of a building, it went through several design and prototyping stages before achieving the final result.
The challenge of the request was initially adapting the project provided by the client, with all its materials, solutions, and accessories, from the scale of an object approximately 50×60 cm, as it was initially conceived, to the desired object size, with a height of 125 cm.
Subsequently, the journey to the object’s completion was a long one, with its ups and downs. Prototyping brought a series of successive experiments with custom-made parts and accessories to handle the new kinetic energy generated by resizing the elements.
The final object, made from birch plywood with metal accessories, was displayed on a stand made from the same material, also crafted in our workshop.
Below is the presentation video of the project we adopted and resized.
